A grip on history
Famed wrestler, boxer and Oklahoma native Danny Hodge gently demonstrates a winning move on Col. Allen Jamerson,72nd Air Base Wing and Tinker installation commander, during the champ’s visit to base Sept. 29. Colonel Jamerson, a huge wrestling fan, gave Mr. Hodge, his wife and mutual friends Michael and Pam Kloiber, a tour of base and a chance to meet Airmen during a luncheon. Mr. Kloiber, Tinker Federal Credit Union president and CEO, learned of Colonel Jamerson’s passion for all things wrestling and told him of their friendship with the famous wrestler and boxer. Mr. Hodge earned an Olympic Silver Medal in 1956, was the 1958 Golden Gloves champion, the 1968 TWWA Heavyweight winner and was the only amateur wrestler ever featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated.
