Crossing guard

Beth Weiss stops traffic for Tinker Elementary School students making their way home from school as the new year began last week. She returns to her post for a second year, the only crossing guard for the school where the kids know her as “Miss Beth.” No matter the weather, she takes her spot outdoors twice a day, a duty she’s happy to do because she enjoys seeing the kids, she said. An Airman’s wife and mother of three, one who attends Tinker Elementary, she also acts as cafeteria monitor during lunch, keeping her eyes on the room full of energetic students. Drivers are asked to take extra care when driving near the school since the crosswalks will be full again now that school is back in session. (Air Force photo by Margo Wright)
