Sexual Assault proclomation

Maj. Gen. P. David Gillett Jr., Oklahoma City Air Logistics Center commander, and Mr. John Over, OC-ALC executive director, were the first of several base leaders who gathered to sign a Sexual Assault Awareness Month proclamation April 8 showing Tinker’s commitment to ending sexual assault through education, training and providing help to victims of the crime. “The problem won’t go away if we ignore it,” said the commander, who gave statistics, showing that Oklahoma ranks sixth in the nation for reported rapes and in the Air Force, 607 cases of sexual assault were reported last year. Other signers included commanders from the Navy, the 507th Air Refueling Wing, 552nd Air Control Wing and the 72nd Air Base Wing. Victim advocates and others attended the signing held in the Anaconda Room of Bldg. 3001. (Air Force photo/Margo Wright)
