Ultrasound

Headphones keep out noise of the Plasma Spray shop in Bldg. 3001 and allow Alan Logan to hear hissing that signifies otherwise undetectable gases escaping from pin holes, around pipe threads or other minute faults in lines. The senior ultrasound analyst’s gun detects the leaks and identifies areas that need repairing. Escaping gases not only cost the Air Force money up front, but leaks often introduce outside air and contaminants to the process gases that are needed in machines that use those gases in sealed, clean environments.(Air Force photo/Margo Wright)
