Securing the network
Firewalls, servers, routers and proxies are the business of 72nd Communications Squadron Network Security Office personnel Randy Donner, front, and Dale Seymour. A crew of five takes care of the Tinker network perimeter, keeping customers hooked to the outside world without compromising security. It is an hourly “balancing act between security and speed,” said Mr. Donner. They also act as middlemen between the command, the Air Force and base users. “We help block thousands of attempts daily to infiltrate the network from across the country to other countries,” said Mr. Donner. “We try to make new (security) processes as seamless as possible to our customers.” (Air Force photo/Margo Wright)
