Shingo prize
Secretary of the Air Force Michael B. Donley, and B-1 production chief, Melvin Goodwin, hold the Shingo Prize Bronze Medal awarded to the programmed depot maintenance line at the Oklahoma City Air Logistics Center. The award has been called the “Nobel Prize of manufacturing.” Secretary Donley praised the center’s efforts to streamline their operations, getting materiel to the warfighter more efficiently and saving taxpayers’ money. “It really reflects very well on your commitment to excellence in everything you do, and a commitment to continuous improvement on leaning-out these lines,” Secretary Donley said. Secretary Donley visited Tinker for the ceremony celebrating the partnership between the Air Force and the community that brought about the new Tinker Aerospace Complex.
