$1 headset fix improves Predator mission

The Oklahoma City Air Logistics Complex, working together with Pratt & Whitney partners, was given the challenge of retrofitting 10 U.S. Marine Corps F135 engines in a 12-month time period in order to support USMC initial operating capability. The 10th engine was shipped to the customer on Wednesday. Colin Tatham, the KC-135 acting electric/avionics unit chief with the 564th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, displays a “fly table,” which helps people in the 10th Flight Test Squadron who perform pre-flight testing to see if there are any problems with the KC-135’s auto-pilot function and is also being used on all other aircraft at Tinker Air Force Base. The fly table came to fruition through a joint effort by members of sheetmetal, quality assurance, engineering and transformation offices, as well as many others. The Oklahoma City Air Logistics Complex had a huge reason to celebrate on Monday. Members of the complex completed Programmed Depot Maintenance on a KC-135 Stratotanker in a record-breaking 93 days. The record was previously 94 days, but even a one-day improvement is a cost savings and gives the aircraft back to the customer sooner.
