VPP

Col. Gerald McCray, 76th Aircraft Maintenance Group commander, awards Louis Bertoletti the AMXG VPP coin and certificate Nov. 10 for being selected the AMXG Star Point Recognition Recipient for October 2014. Earlier this year, a leaking chiller/steam pipe over the AMXG’s north office door caused overnight flooding. Facility engineers said the line could not be repaired immediately because it would shut off cooling for the south end of Bldg. 3001. Instead, AMXG was advised to mop and use water collection tubs as needed until the major repair could be scheduled. Leaking, however, grew worse and harder to contain. Mr. Bertoletti, a sheet metal worker in Dock 9.5, volunteered to use a Zamboni sweeper to siphon/vacuum the water first thing each morning and last thing each afternoon. His efforts over the last five weeks of the problem provided a significant service to fellow employees by reducing potential slips, trips or falls while walking on the affected area. Mr. Bertoletti did this of his own will and without any hint of gain or reward. Mr. Bertoletti is a 16-year employee of AMXG's 564th AMXS. (Courtesy photo)
