Saving Air Force money

The Commodities Maintenance Group’s B-52 Nose Cowls shop, since switching to a modular process in 2010, has diminished its flow days from 140 down to almost 40 days. The shop averages 33 cowlings per quarter and they currently have zero days for back orders and awaiting parts days due to the success of the process. Sheetmetal mechanic David Carter, with the 551CMXG, works on one of the nose cowls. (Air Force photo by Kelly White/Released)
