New 76th SMXG area opens in Bldg. 9001
With the help of Oklahoma City Air Logistics Complex Vice Director Kevin O’Connor, left, and 76th Software Maintenance Group Director Michael Jennings, OC-ALC Commander Brig. Gen. Mark Johnson cuts the ribbon to officially open the 76th SMXG’s new administration area in Bldg. 9001. “This is a great opportunity to celebrate something we don’t normally get to do, and that is open a new facility,” General Johnson said. “It all started with people who had a vision, foresight and perseverance. It goes back a long time when we asked what we could do for the future and managing the opportunity for growth.” The software group was started in 1983 with just 30 employees and now has more than 800 engineers. “You all generated $163 million in revenue last year,” the general said. “We could hire every engineer coming out of the Oklahoma higher education system and it wouldn’t be enough for where we need to be in the future. The growth is absolutely phenomenal.” He added that giving the employees a comfortable place to work is the least they can do to ensure continued success. (Air Force photo by Kelly White)
