552nd ACW CoC
Col. Geoffrey Weiss assumed command of the 552nd Air Control Wing from outgoing commander Col. David Gaedecke during a change of command ceremony June 30 in Bldg. 230. Lt. Gen. Mark Kelly, commander of the 12th Air Force, Air Combat Command and commander of Air Forces Southern, U.S. Southern Command at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Ariz., presided over the ceremony. Col. Weiss will be responsible for Air Combat Command's fleet of E-3 Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS) aircraft and ground-based Control and Reporting Centers (CRC) supporting combatant commanders worldwide. He will lead over 4,000 men and women at four Air Force bases and will manage resources that include 31 E-e AWACS aircraft and two CRC's valued at $15.6 billion.
