483rd Bombardment Group
Oklahoma City Air Logistics Complex Commander Brig. Gen. Chris Hill visited with nine World War II veterans and their family members Sept. 28 before they toured Bldg. 3001 on Tinker AFB. The 483rd Bombardment Group was the last B-17 Flying Fortress unit trained in the United States, and their tour of the OC-ALC involved first-hand visuals on how the engine mecca of the Air Force supports the warfighter. Technological advancements have significantly changed since their time in service. These national heroes learned how their impact paved the way and how aircraft flown decades ago are still operable today due to the workforce and sustainability at Tinker AFB.
