Growing Trophy Bass

Tinker Natural Resource Manager John Krupovage and Donna Nowlan, spend a hot July morning removing fallen cedar trees on Tinker Air Force Base, and dragging them into Primrose Pond near base housing and the Child Development Center. Cedar trees are an invasive species in Oklahoma and once moved into the pond, which lacks covered structure on the shore line, they provide habitat for the forage fish and bass who reside in the water. Kuprovage said that providing this quality habitat also leads to “trophy bass.” (U.S. Air Force photo/Megan Prather)
