Visiting an air show has many of the same security requirements as going through security at an airport. To speed everyone through security, please do not bring more personal belongings with you than is necessary. If you have a question about whether an item not mentioned here is allowed at the Tinker Air Show, please reach out via our "Contact Us" page. Please note, this list is not all-inclusive and is subject to change at any time.

 

 

PROHIBITED ITEMS

To expedite the security screening process, please bring only essential items.

The following items will not be permitted on the flight line and are subject to confiscation:

• Illegal drugs / Controlled substances (ex. Marijuana, CBD, THC, Heroin, etc.). This restriction includes any medical marijuana products

• Weapons (regardless of permit) including firearms, knives, replica or toy weapons (including pocket knives and multi-tools are subject to removal)

• Backpacks (Clear, see-through backpacks are acceptable)

• Liquids in containers larger than 32oz or 1L

• UPDATE: Camera Lenses greater than 200mm

• Drones, kites, balloons

• Coolers (exception: baby food/medication/small size 10x7x7 inches)

• Outside Alcohol

• Recreational Vehicles

• Ammunition or any form of explosives

• This is a non-smoking airshow: to include eCigs/vape pens

• Spark producing devices (example: lighters, matches, etc.)

• Pets (except service animals assisting those with disabilities)

• Tents, portable or temporary awnings

• Large lawn chairs (exceptions: small folding camping chairs)

• Bicycles, scooters, skateboards, rollerblades

• Wagons (Strollers and folding wagons where transporting children is the primary purpose are permitted. People with strollers/folding wagons are asked to use the Hruskocy Gate as loading/unloading these items on shuttle buses can cause delays for others.)

• Mace, pepper spray, and personal tasers/stun guns

• Laser pointers

• Scanners (Digital & Analog)

• Walkie Talkies/HAM Radios

• 3D Scanning Cameras

• Glass containers

• Grills or fireworks

• Excessive storage items such as briefcases, duffel bags and backpacks. Permitted items must be smaller than 10x10x10 (inches); (exceptions: diaper bags, small purses, small camera cases and fanny packs)

PERMITTED ITEMS

All permitted items will be subject to inspection prior to admission. Please minimize the number and size of permitted items to reduce and expedite security screening time into the air show.
If you don't need it, don't bring it.

• Sunscreen (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED)

• Ear protection (earplugs and over-the-ear) (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED)

• Sealed water bottles no larger than 32oz. / Reusable water bottles (MUST BE EMPTY PRIOR TO SECURITY SCREENING, free water filling stations available after security)

• Sealed ice packs (no loose ice permitted)

• NEW! Hydration packs (MUST BE EMPTY PRIOR TO SECURITY SCREENING; free water filling stations available after security)

• Fanny packs and purses (will be subject to search)

• Cell phones, cameras and camcorders

• Folding chairs and camping chairs (Large lawn chairs not permitted)

• Pre-packaged and/or sealed snack food

• Diaper bags (will be subject to search)

• Baby food/formula/

• Medications/valid prescriptions

• Strollers (folding wagons where transporting children is the primary purpose are permitted. People bringing these items are asked to enter through the Hruskocy Gate as bringing these items on the shuttle buses can cause delays for others)

• Umbrellas (handheld)

• Wheelchairs

• Blankets

STEM, Science, Technology, Engineering and Math, is fundamental to aviation and is a driving force behind Oklahoma’s second-largest and fastest-growing industry: aerospace. It is essential for the next generation to develop skills in key areas such as engineering, aircraft maintenance and support for the defense sector. In this interactive hangar, students in grades K-12 can participate in a variety of hands-on activities, including robotics, drone flying, flight simulation, building balsa wood planes, working with snap circuits, exploring wind tunnels and more. STEM City activities are free for families and are provided by agencies and departments representing the State of Oklahoma, community organizations, academic institutions, and aerospace companies. Key contributors include the Oklahoma Department of Aerospace and Aeronautics, Oklahoma Career and Technology Education, Northrop Grumman, FAA Monroney Center STEM, Rose State College and Mid-Del Technology Center, among others.

Air Force Sustainment/Non-Destructive Inspection: AFSC/NDI will show you how they x-ray and inspect various parts and pieces to keep the planes flying.
Oklahoma City Air Logistics Complex/Maintenance Support Group: You will get see some various hands-on activities that involve really fun Chemistry!
Oklahoma City Air Logistics Complex/Commodities Maintenance Group: Come see how some of Tinker’s 3D printing and reverse engineering happens.
Oklahoma City Air Logistics Complex/Aircraft Maintenance Group: You will get to see real aircraft parts along with hearing from those that work on the planes.
Air Force Sustainment /Software Directorate: Snap circuits, some giveaways, a paper airplane building and flying through a standing banner, and then a programmable Lego car.

DoD Starbase Oklahoma: Fun interactive STEM opportunities with bots controlled by Bluetooth connectivity.
Oklahoma Department of Aerospace & Aeronautics: Build rockets and balsa wood planes and visit with aviation community celebrities.
University of Oklahoma Sooner Flight Academy: Hands on science activities to demonstrate different scientific principles in aviation.
KidWind: Interactive opportunity with solar panels that demonstrate the various power loads.
Oklahoma Aerospace Institute for Research and Education OSU: Come explore the campus of OAIRE through virtual reality. You can also work on some gliders either after you’ve explored or while you are waiting.
Northrop Grumman: Fun interactive Nintendo system
Federal Aviation Administration Monroney Center STEM: We will have a fixed-wing and rotorcraft simulators as well as two computers that kids are able to run a scenario directing planes learning about Air Traffic Control, along with other hands-on activities.
Tinker Air Force Base 72nd Force Support Squadron: Many interactive hands-on activities for kids of all ages and some for the parent too!
Tinker AFB 72nd Operations Support Squadron Weather Flight and National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration: A variety of weather equipment to teach kids how Meteorologists are able to forecast atmospheric conditions and activities for them to showcase how the fluid atmosphere works (i.e. how clouds are made, tornadoes form, etc...). Activities will showcase military and civilian sectors of meteorology.
Droneworks: A fun opportunity to fly drones and learn all about how they work.
FIRST Robotics Lego League: Interact and learn all about FIRST robotics from the FIRST experts.

No, you do NOT need a REAL ID or military ID to attend the Tinker Air Show! We do recommend getting a REAL ID the next time your license is up for renewal as many government entities, including airports, now require REAL ID. Members of Team Tinker do have alternate entrances to gain entry to the Tinker Air Show, details available in the parking/gate map.
