The Office of Management and Budget bestowed the Oklahoma City Air Logistics Complex Energy Team a prestigious Director’s Award last week for its work on an historic energy- and cost-saving contract.

The award recognizes the OC-ALC’s part in helping the federal government meet the $4 billion Presidential Performance Contracting Challenge that concluded at the end of last year. The complex’s $243 million facility modernization contract is projected to save more than $626 million in energy and operational costs over 21 years and was the largest government Energy Savings Performance Contract involved in the challenge.

OMB Director Shaun Donovan singled out for recognition Energy Team members OC-ALC Energy Manager Joseph Cecrle; Joey Hunter, a mechanical engineer with the 72nd Civil Engineering Directorate; Ken McKuen, an Air Force Lean Six Sigma Black Belt with the 76th Maintenance Support Group; and Michael Kessler, program analyst with the 76th MSXG Energy/Outage office.

“This project was selected for recognition from a very competitive pool of applicants who’ve all made significant contributions to preserving this nation’s resources,” the director said in a citation letter. “I am personally grateful for their tremendous effort in making energy a consideration in all we do. Thank you again for your leadership and continued leadership and outstanding contributions by your entire team.”
