Strategic Alternate Sourcing Program Office

SASPO, located within the Air Force Sustainment Center (AFSC), optimizes the alternate sourcing process and leverages opportunities for resolution of obsolescence issues. SASPO accomplishes this through two mission elements:  Source Development and Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages (DMSMS).

Source Development

Air Force Source Approval Requests (SARs)
A qualification process the AF utilizes to qualify sources of supply or repair.

***ATTENTION AIR FORCE SAR PACKAGE SUBMITTING***
We ask that all Air Force SAR packages be submitted electronically through https://safe.apps.mil  DoD safe is safe option for large files.  If you have a PKI certificate you can send directly, if you do not then send a request to 429SCMS.SASPO.Workflow@us.af.mil and include your email address and "request a drop off".  A "request for drop off" will be returned, use this to submit your SAR package.

Policy & Training Team: Policy & Training provides DMSMS briefings and training, DMSMS Management Team (DMT) support member for all program offices, review charters, DMSMS Management Plans (DMP’s), Statement of Works (SOW’s), contract language, etc., and manages the AF DMSMS Subject Matter Expert (SME) list, which is consolidated on the SharePoint.

Predictive Tool (AVCOM):  AVCOM provides the capability to instantly status weapon system health across the enterprise it allows users to pinpoint and predict obsolescence, assess the impact of obsolescence across all platforms, determine “obsolescence density” within the SRU, LRU, and complete system as well as many other functions.

Analysis and Resolution (A&R): A&R provides weapon system managers with the resources to perform system studies and proactively identify and resolve component unavailability issues before impacting supportability. Provides the resources to reactively solve part obsolescence issues with a timely cost-effective resolution.

End-of-Life (EOL): The EOL provides the AF an avenue to electronically communicate component unavailability issues arising from manufacturers notice of production discontinuance. Provides capability to receive, process, and communicate Life-of-Type buys of DLA managed/purchased items to DLA. This process supports the supply chain to assure future component availability.
