AROUND TINKER: Surgical Services Flight earns Wildcatter Award

The 72nd Air Base Wing Surgical Services Flight was recently honored with a Wildcatter Award from 72nd ABW Commander Col. Stephanie Wilson.

72nd Medical Group Surgical Services Flight, which is comprised of the Physical Therapy, Orthopedic Surgery, General Surgery, and Chiropractic elements, has embodied the Air Force core values, especially in Excellence in All We Do. Fitness is a center for the team as it handles all squadron fitness and has recently achieved 31 percent of assigned personnel scoring an “Excellent” on their annual assessment. The team’s dedicated service and professionalism is evident as they see 540 patient appointments, perform 13 surgeries, five colonoscopies, and three minor procedures weekly. Additionally, the staff’s hard work and abilities are highlighted by saving the Air Force $4.5 million annually in private sector costs and coordinating care for 730 new patients monthly.
