Update from the Installation Commander

For 12 June, Tinker AFB remains in HPCON Bravo due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As a reminder, TODAY, the Chapel and Helping Agencies will be hosting a Tinker Air Force Base COVID Olympics from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. for dorm residents at the football field. Food will be provided. For more information, contact the chapel at 405-734-2111.

Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. David Goldfein visited Tinker this week, and recognized the significance in the community partnerships that contribute to the progress and development of Tinker AFB. Referring to the surrounding communities, Goldfein said in his Tinker Talks episode (https://www.dvidshub.net/audio/63748/tinker-talks-chief-staff-air-force-general-goldfein-talks-depot-maintenance-during-covid-diversity-and-inclusion-and) that Oklahoma is “the gold standard” when it comes to opening its arms to the Air Force families. Tinker is successful in large part because of the support it receives from advocates in the local areas. You may also read the full story on Tinker’s website.

Department of the Air Force Secretary Barbara Barrett and service chiefs, General Goldfein and Gen. Jay Raymond, have directed the Department of the Air Force Inspector General to independently review the service’s record on military discipline and developmental opportunities for African American Airmen and Space Professionals. The review will assess and capture existing racial disparities, assess Air Force-specific causal factors, like culture and policies, assimilate the analysis and conclusions of previous racial disparity studies by external organizations and make concrete recommendations resulting in impactful and lasting change. By law, IGs operate as independent entities. The full results of both reviews, good or bad, will be shared with Airmen, Department of Defense senior leaders, Congress and the public.
