Following Department of Defense guidelines, 72nd Air Base Wing and Tinker Installation Commander Col. G. Hall Sebren Jr. has updated the mask policy at Tinker Air Force Base due to rising coronavirus infection rates in both the local area and state.

The DOD policy states that masks must be worn indoors at all installations in areas of substantial or high community COVID transmission. Tinker Air Force Base is located in an area with high community COVID transmission, per the Centers for Disease Control an Prevention's COVID Data Tracker.

Effective immediately, all service members, federal employees, onsite contractor employees, and visitors, regardless of vaccination status, MUST wear a mask indoors on installations and in other facilities owned, leased or otherwise controlled by the DOD.

“At this time it is a personal choice to be vaccinated or not.  I urge Team Tinker teammates to speak with their health care provider about if a vaccination is right for them. ” Sebren said. “At this time wearing a mask and getting vaccinated (if medically able) is the best way to ensure we ensure keep the work force safe so we can continue to accomplish our incredibly important mission everyday.”

Vaccinations are available on base. To sign up for an appointment, visit https://covidvaccinesignup.timetap.com. You may need to use a non-DOD computer and follow instructions on site to sign up. For questions or assistance call the 72nd MDG COVID support line at 405-582-6297.
