Combined AFMC, ACC inspections to start July 25 Published June 24, 2011 By Daniel E. McCabe 76th MXW/QA TINKER AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- Two teams of more than 200 functional experts from Air Force Materiel Command and Air Combat Command Inspectors General offices and A4 will visit Tinker July 25 to assess our programmatic compliance to include our maintenance, logistics, supply chain management , base support, safety and Uniform Code of Military Justice programs. The AFMC team will visit all units within the Oklahoma City Air Logistics Center and the 448th Supply Chain Management Wing. The AFMC/IG visit will be conducted in conjunction with an Air Combat Command compliance inspection of the 552nd Air Control Wing. "The key to success during this tough test is complete teamwork between all personnel in the Center, most importantly our American Federation of Government Employees workforce," said Col. Steve Bleymaier, OC-ALC vice commander, "If we all work towards the same goals, we will show AFMC this is the best organization in the Air Force." The last major AFMC assessment of the OC-ALC was a Logistics Compliance Assessment Program inspection in March 2010. The previous center-wide compliance inspection was conducted in July 2006. The center received satisfactory and excellent ratings respectively in these inspections. Colonel Bleymaier stressed that, unlike previous assessments, it is not the intent of these inspections to specifically rate organizations in the traditional manner. Rather, the teams will be assessing programmatic compliance and the LCAP in particular will assess compliance within end-to-end processes across units. The inspections will last five working days and the focus will be on compliance with established directives. The ratings for the compliance inspection are three tiered; "In Compliance," "In Compliance with Comment," or "Not in Compliance." Assessments will be conducted on all shifts where center employees are working. LCAP assessments are rated as Pass/Fail, including over-the-shoulder evaluations by unit Quality Assurance inspectors performing Personnel Evaluations and Quality Verification Inspections. James W. Schmidt, president AFGE Local 916, noted that the inspections are a challenge, but it is imperative that everyone does what needs to be done to pass this inspection. "Watch your personal protection equipment and keep an eye out for your co-workers ... go the extra mile," said Mr. Schmidt. "We all appreciate the hard work each and every one of you do on a daily basis, but let's make an extra effort to do it as safely as possible and within the technical orders." What can I do to help attain the best possible rating? - First and foremost, perform a thorough self-inspection of your shop or office using applicable AFMC compliance checklists. Links to the compliance checklists are available on the Tinker internal web page or from tour unit self inspection manager. - Know your job responsibilities and what higher headquarters checklists apply to you. Print the checklists out that apply, answer them and put them in a book. The CI/LCAP is an open book test, so do the test before they arrive. For any items that are not compliant, develop an action plan and document what you are doing to correct the problem. How do you deal with an evaluator? First, be enthusiastic. If an evaluator enters your area, approach him or her and greet them. Ensure your supervisor knows there is an evaluator in the workcenter. Answer their questions promptly and respectfully. If you do not know the answer to the question, say you will find out and then be sure you get back with the evaluator immediately. After the evaluator leaves, report to your supervisor what was discussed, and any observations made - good and bad. By following these guidelines, and those contained in the weekly Tinker Take Off inspection countdown list on page 2, you can help us attain our goal and prove to AFMC that our maintenance, logistics, supply chain management , base support, safety and UCMJ programs are the best they have ever seen!
