The upcoming joint operational readiness inspection is less than a month away. The last-scheduled formal exercise to help units prepare for the assessment is Oct. 5 through 9.

Named War Wagon 10-01, officials said the exercise is designed for Tinker's Air Force Materiel Command units, the 552nd Air Control Wing and the 3rd Combat Communications Group.

"We will be fine so long as attitudes remain good and everyone takes pride in the job they are asked to do," said Paul Logan, exercise designer for the Installation Exercise Program Office. "The ORI is our report card. It is the Air Force's way of saying Tinker Air Force Base is ready for whatever the world can throw at us."

The exercise scenario encourages Tinker personnel to aid allies by sending cargo to a forward location to deter hostile nations.

"We're looking for a coordinated effort among all the effected units to ensure a safe and timely deployment," Mr. Logan said.

Mr. Logan said the purpose of the exercise is to ensure Tinker units can work well with one another, while using a professional attitude and paying attention to detail.

Additionally, Mr. Logan said the key to success in both the exercise and the inspection is to take them seriously; everyone's contribution is important no matter how small.

"Whether an exercise or real-world event, the success of Tinker's mission depends on all of us," Mr. Logan said. "Hundreds of people have worked and will continue to work thousands of hours preparing Team Tinker for this critical inspection."
