The Oklahoma City Air Logistics Center command section recently took on a self-help project to help make things a little easier for special needs employees.
Armed with cordless drills, screwdrivers and levels, Maj. Gen. Loren Reno, OC-ALC commander, Col. Brad Ashley, OC-ALC vice commander, and John Over, OC-ALC executive director, plus some career broadening captains, installed door handles and shelves in handicap stalls in restrooms throughout the administrative area of Bldg. 3001.
"Our Airmen, both military and civilian, are our most valuable assets," General Reno said. "It is important to me that we meet everyone's needs and do what we can to help make Tinker a better and safer work place."
Breaking into two teams to cover both floors, it quickly became apparent that each team had their own particular style of work.
While General Reno's team was very deliberate in measuring and drilling precise holes and aligning the handles and shelves, Colonel Ashley's and Mr. Over's team moved with speed and precision that would make a NASCAR pit crew envious.
Regardless of the style of work, the end result was easier access for special needs employees.
Plans call for more self-help projects in the future.
