Ms. Kampmeyer, a child and youth program assistant at Child Development Center West, has worked at Tinker for a little over a year. She recently did an experiment called “Glitter Germs” with the children in her classroom to show them how important it is to wash their hands for at least 20 seconds to get all the glitter germs off. She’s also helping the kids adjust to a new normal by explaining why some of their friends aren’t at school right now and why the teachers wear face masks. The best part of her job is having conversations with the kids and seeing the world through the eyes of a three-year-old. Maj. Joseph Jones, a certified physician's assistant with the 72nd Operational Medical Readiness Squadron and a team lead for the sick call triage and treatment team, has served for 24 years in the U.S. Air Force. Originally from Yuma, Arizona, Jones likes playing softball and hanging out with friends and was named the 2018 MAJCOM Clinician of the Year. In addition to administrative paperwork, Jones' duties currently include triaging patients with respiratory and intestinal issues, and possibly COVID-19, versus patients with regular appointments and pharmacy customers. In his free time, he likes gardening, landscaping and watching sports, especially baseball, with his wife. The main duties of the chaplain corps are to ensure active duty military and Tinker personnel have the right to exercise their freedom of religion and also advise leadership on the morale and spiritual wellness of Airmen. Danny Marler is a civilian police officer assigned to the 72nd Security Forces Squadron. He is from Choctaw, Oklahoma, and enjoys fishing and golfing in his free time. His main duties include securing the base, perimeter and aircraft on the installation. During COVID, he says the gates have less traffic with so many people teleworking, which helps minimize contact during this time. Staff Sgt. Ernest Graydon serves as the non-commissioned officer in charge of chapel resources. He has served in the U.S. Air Force for nine years and is from Tifton, GA. He loves fishing, church and spending time with his family. His primary duties as NCOIC are assuring the chapel has resources, handling contracting issues and appropriated funding, maintaining facility and serves as the contracting officer representative for Chapel Tithes and Offerings. During the COVID crisis, Chapel staff is manning the Latte Lounge and engaging with the Airmen there. They are only allowing five people at a time inside, adhering to social distancing policies and cleaning and sanitizing often. The Latte Lounge is open seven days a week. Maj. Tikia Wright, chief of laboratory services and infection preventionist with the 72nd Medical Support Squadron, has served in the U. S. Air Force for three years. Her hometown is Shreveport, LA, and she loves crafting. Some of her team's main duties are bringing samples into the lab and running influenza tests on their analyzer. If it is determined to possibly be COVID, it is processed and shipped to the epidemiology lab at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, OH. As the infection preventionist, she ensures that the 72nd Medical Group staff is wearing the correct personal protection equipment, that the clinic is stocked with proper PPE, hand sanitizer is distributed throughout the clinic and ensuring infection is not passed between staff members and patients. Wright loves the lab, providing the quote, "without the lab, you're only guessing." The lab is able to provide results for the doctors and PAs to be able to determine a diagnosis. 72nd Air Base Wing Commander Col. Kenyon Bell presided over the 72nd Mission Support Group Change of Command Ceremony June 14, in which Col. Mark Vitantonio assumed command from outgoing commander Col. Michael Green. Col. Vitantonio will lead nearly 1,500 military, civilian and contract personnel who provide customer service and support, including base security and law enforcement, logistics, supply, transportation, readiness planning, military personnel, education and training, family support and professional military education for 82, 500 employees, family members and retirees.
