Tinker Frontlines: Meet Richard Shackelford from the 72nd Air Base Wing

Richard “Shack” Shackelford is currently working as the Crisis Action Team operations officer for the 72nd Air Base Wing Plans and Programs Office. He was active duty Air Force for 23 years before joining civil service in 2009. The Edmond, Oklahoma, native loves golfing as much as he can.

Shackelford described the duties in the Plans and Programs Office as the “belly button” for the wing commander and vice commander for guidance and policies to push during crisis situations. They are the hub to push information and taskers from Air Force Materiel Command and the Air Force Sustainment Center to everyone on the installation, including contractors and tenant organizations.

Shackelford said the best part of his job is working with the crew on the CAT team and in the XP Office. He says they work as a family and take care of each other.
