For 7 May, Tinker AFB remains in HPCON Charlie due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The latest COVID-19 confirmed case is an active duty member of 552 ACW who contracted the virus while deployed and went into immediate quarantine upon return to Tinker. Health officials are actively tracing all recent movements and contacts in conjunction with affected units and local health authorities. Anyone considered to have been exposed to increased risk will be contacted directly.

The Air Force is taking a unique approach to gun safety through a new program called Time-Based Prevention. TBP is an effort that promotes putting time and space between a person in distress and their access to lethal means. Through the TBP program, Tinker received 1,700 gun locks that are available to any personnel on base who has a weapon in their home. Locks are available while supplies last. For more information on where to receive the locks, visit https://www.tinker.af.mil/News/Article-Display/Article/2178047/air-force-locks-down-on-gun-safety/

As organizations engage in planning to Return to Full Capacity, a policy on mask wear has been released this week. Employees are encouraged to wear masks or appropriate face coverings (e.g., neck gaiters) at all times. However, all employees are required to wear one of these items when working within 6 feet of another employee, in common areas, while walking through narrow hallways, or other areas where social distancing cannot be accomplished. Organizations are required to provide each employee no fewer than 2 washable masks per employee. For active duty members, masks and face coverings should be gray, white, black or another color that matches OCP uniform, with no patterns or logos. Light blue or pink medical-style masks are also authorized in uniform. Note, this policy is specific to Tinker only. The full policy can be found here: https://www.tinker.af.mil/Portals/106/Documents/covid/Tinker%20Mask%20Policy%20During%20COVID.pdf?ver=2020-05-06-154353-410

For non-medical COVID-19 concerns, the Straight Talk Center is available from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday thru Friday. It can be reached at 405-734-2567.
