Stay on top of orders

When orders for a new duty assignment are issued, the 72nd Force Support Squadron Military Personnel Section ensures members are notified 60 days prior to their report no later than date.

The MPS provides members with a checklist of items that must be completed before hard copy orders are issued. A hard copy of relocation orders are needed to perform out-processing and arrange travel and moving expenses. Failure to provide a completed checklist to the MPS within 90 days of the preferred departure date can delay the receipt of orders.

The Logistics Readiness Squadron's Personal Property Section coordinates applications for the movement of household goods.

When a member is preparing for a household goods move, at least 10 business days advance-notice is required to coordinate the packing and pick-up of a personal property shipment. It is in the best interest of all members to contact the TMO office at least 60 days before their projected departure and schedule a counseling appointment. It is also imperative that supervisors allow members the time it takes to complete this suspense checklist.

Members with permanent change of station orders can also be proactive by attending the Smooth Move briefing, which is offered monthly through the Airman and Family Readiness Center at 739-2747. Procrastination of the MPS suspense checklist could mean delay of hard copy orders and the possibility of working alone to have personal property moved to the next duty assignment.
