The 72nd Air Base Wing Communications Directorate's Information Technology Equipment Custodian, ITEC Spotlight for June 2016 honors Paulo Borges of the 420th Supply Chain Management Group.

Mr. Borges is the primary ITEC for an IT Asset Management account of 151 assets valued at more than $101,000.

In addition to his ITEC responsibilities, Mr. Borges works as a program controller on the assets availability team, a position he has held for three years. As a program controller, he and his assets availability teammates analyze roughly 22,000 stock numbers to determine how they affect each aircraft and engine managed by the 420th SCMG.

Mr. Borges says one of the challenges he faces is that his coworkers think of him as the "IT guy" and ask him questions only help desk personnel can answer. They also think he can give them a monitor or computer whenever they request one. However, the biggest challenge he faces is when co-workers transfer to new positions with their computers and he doesn't know until after the fact.

On the positive side, Mr. Borges enjoys helping the people in his area with computer equipment issues such as proper cable/wire hook up, multiple monitor set up and printer issues.

Mr. Borges is successful at keeping track of his inventory at all times because his inventory is located in one central area in addition to a conference room and the 420th SCMG director's office. allows him more time to devote to his other responsibilities.

In addition to his civilian career, Mr. Borges currently serves as a Logistics Officer with the 45th Infantry Brigade Combat Team in the Oklahoma National Guard. He has a total of 16 years with the Guard, seven as an enlisted Soldier and nine as an officer and completed an overseas tour with the IBCT in 2011-2012.

The 72nd ABW/SC salutes Mr. Borges for the excellent way he handles his ITEC responsibilities, his daily responsibilities and his ongoing military service in support of warfighters.
