Tinker AFB has a School Liaison Program that is available to assist military and DoD civilian families with questions or issues concerning public, charter, private and home-schools. There are unique challenges military children experience during their transition to a new school. This program helps with the transition period.
The main goals of the School Liaison Program identifies barriers to academic success, develops solutions, provides parents tools they need to overcome educational obstacles and develops a partnership with the local school districts who service military and DoD civilian students.
The role of the School Liaison at Tinker Air Force Base is to assist families to ensure their children receive the best possible education regardless of where they attend school.
Some of the School Liaison Services Include:
- Assist parents in locating schools in the local area
- Maintains resources available to assist parents in understanding the policies and procedures of local school systems surrounding Tinker AFB
- Make school referrals as appropriate and assist families in solving educational challenges that may occur.
